Why the Death-Tax Movement Died

The Wall Street Journal carries news that President-elect Barack Obama plans to prevent the estate tax from expiring in 2010. This was somewhat expected, since it was a mainstay of his campaign. And anyone who thought the wealthy could avoid higher taxes with a Democratic president and Congress because of the economic crisis is clearly deluded. The politics of wealth have simply changed too much.
